At the heart of the community since 1971

Welcome to our wonderful school.  Established in 1971 in the heart of the local community, and now part of Nene Education Trust, we have proudly provided generations of Raunds children with a first class education.

A friendly and empowering school community, we have high aspirations for all pupils, irrespective of need, background or support required.

Children at Windmill Primary receive the very best learning opportunities and experiences.  As well as being ambitious in their goals, we encourage resilience and kindness and for children to have an awareness and positive appreciation of society's diversity.

From Reception Year onwards, we provide all children an enriching and well rounded educational experience, both within and beyond the curriculum and classroom.  All learning is designed to support the individual child in achieving their fullest potential.  This aim is underpinned by three key drivers for future success:

  • an understanding and appreciation of the diversity of our world
  • a curiosity and ambition for the world of work
  • to develop the resilience and courage to secure wellness of body and mind

Our school is staffed by a caring and compassionate team who put the children at Windmill at the heart of everything we do.  Pupil leadership is encouraged, and our thriving School Council and other linked opportunities give all learners scope to help shape and drive forward exciting new developments during their school careers.

A caring, inclusive and celebratory culture

We promote a caring, inclusive and celebratory culture, which we believe is essential for both current and future success.

Children deserve nothing but the best, and are warmly welcomed into our safe and empowering environment where growth and confidence are nurtured, alongside the development of curiosity, awe and wonder.

Proud members of the Nene Education Trust family of schools, we work closely with partner schools locally as well as a range of national organisations.  Through collaboration, we offer a breadth of wider learning opportunities including Trustwide performances at least twice a year.

Our school is a bright and well-resourced learning environment.  Classrooms and shared areas are child-centred and accessible and we have ambitious plans to further improve the site including the garden and outdoor learning areas.

Our extra-curricular provision is excellent and every child is encouraged to join a club.  Wrap around care is an opportunity to enjoy a range of games and challenges.  Lunch and after school clubs include games, cooking, gardening, choir and drama.
